The high energy of Spring and the longer, active days of Summer are giving way to the decreasing energy of the second half of the year.
Since the Summer Solstice, the days are getting shorter. If you pay close attention to nature, you’ll notice there’s a heavier look and feel to most of the plant life. Having reached the peak of growth, the edible ones are sagging under the weight of ripe fruit and veggies.
We are a part of nature, too, so what may seem like nagging symptoms may simply be a reflection of the seasonal shift. It’s time to slow down and not push so hard… to savor the abundance (of the garden as well as work, relationships, etc.) and start planning for fall and winter.
Taking time out, whether at the beach for a week, at one of my day retreats, or curled up for an hour savoring a great book, is important self-care this time of year.
